If you're thinking about working with a personal stylist, it helps to know what happens at each stage. Here is how I work, from your first enquiry to the advice you receive afterwards.
I offer wardrobe edits and shopping services across Yorkshire, as well as E-Styling online. Whether you need a few useful additions or help with your whole wardrobe, we'll start with what you need and take it from there.
You can enquire about a particular service or send a general enquiry if you're unsure where to begin. Tell me a little about what you'd like help with and where you're based.
We can discuss the options by email or arrange a call. You don't need to arrive with a clear idea of your style or know exactly what you want to buy. We can work that out together.
Before we confirm your booking, I'll send you a questionnaire. It helps me understand your lifestyle, clothing preferences, practical needs and the things you find difficult about getting dressed or shopping.
The more useful detail you can share, the better I can prepare. That might be a particular fit issue, a work dress code, colours you avoid or something you want your clothes to feel comfortable enough to do.
There are no right or wrong answers. This is a way for me to get to know you before we work together.
For an in-person service, we'll agree on a date, time and location that work for us both, by email or phone. Wardrobe Edit takes place in your home. For shopping services, we'll choose a suitable place to meet and shop, based on what you're looking for.
E-Styling works differently. You don't need to travel or set aside time for a shopping appointment. Once I have the information I need, I research clothes online and put together your recommendations. If you need them for a particular occasion, please mention the date when you enquire so we can discuss whether the timing will work.
My service prices are listed on the website, with no hidden fees. Clothing purchases are separate from the styling fee, and you decide what to buy.
You don't need to tidy, organise or clear out your wardrobe before I arrive. Leave it as you normally use it, so I can see what is working and where you need help.
At the agreed time, I'll come to your home and we'll begin with your wardrobe. Your questionnaire will already have given me a useful starting point.
We'll look through your clothes and discuss what you wear, what you want to keep and what you feel ready to let go of. I can also put together outfits using pieces you already own and include those ideas in your personal summary.
It's helpful if you can stay nearby and take part, particularly when we're making decisions about your clothes. Nothing is set aside for disposal without your agreement. Any items you decide to let go of remain with you to dispose of or donate yourself.
Before we meet, I prepare around the purpose of your shopping session. You might need clothes for a new job, an occasion, a wardrobe update or just a couple of missing pieces.
Sometimes I'll ask for a full-length photograph to help me plan suitable shops and outfits. This isn't needed for every session, particularly if we're looking for only a few specific items. I'll let you know if it would be useful.
We usually meet in a café first, where we can have a chat and go over anything else you'd like me to know. Then we'll visit the shops and look for clothes that suit your needs, preferences and budget.
You can tell me honestly what you like and what doesn't feel right. If you're happy for me to do so, I can take photographs of you in the pieces or outfits we try and include them in your summary.
There is no obligation to buy anything. You may still come away with useful outfit ideas, a better understanding of what suits you and shops you would like to revisit.
Personal Styling combines Wardrobe Edit and Personal Shopping. We start with your existing clothes, then use what we learn to guide the shopping part.
This helps us see what you already have, how you can wear it and which additions would be useful. We'll agree on the arrangements for both parts when we plan your booking.
For E-Styling, you complete a form explaining what you need. I use that information to research clothes online and put together outfit suggestions around your preferences and budget.
You'll receive a personal summary with shopping links and outfit collages, so you can see how the pieces work together. You can then look through the suggestions and decide what you'd like to order yourself.
There is no in-person appointment to attend. I'll work on your recommendations as soon as I can, based on the information you've shared.
Sustainable Shopping follows a similar process to Personal Shopping, with a focus on second-hand shops.
We'll look through the available clothes together and choose pieces based on your style, needs and budget. What we find will depend on the stock available on the day, and you can decide which items, if any, you want to buy.
Every client receives a unique, private link to a personal summary after their service. It brings together the useful advice and ideas from our work, so you have something to refer back to.
Depending on your service, it includes:
If a question comes up afterwards, you're welcome to get in touch. I'll do my best to give you a clear and helpful answer.
You can find the prices for each service on my services page. There are no hidden fees, and any clothes you choose to buy are paid for separately.
For in-person sessions, you can pay in cash at the end or online using a payment link I send afterwards. If you pay by link, I ask that you aim to make payment within two weeks of your session.
No. You can tell me what you'd like help with, and we can discuss which service would suit you by email or phone.
No. Seeing it as you normally use it helps me understand what needs attention. There is no need to organise it for my visit.
You decide what stays and what goes. I'll offer advice, but we will only set items aside with your agreement. I don't take unwanted clothes away; you arrange their disposal or donation yourself.
No. Every purchase is your decision, and it is possible to finish a shopping session without buying anything. The service can still help you explore different shops, try outfit combinations and understand your preferences. The styling fee covers my time and advice, whether or not you make a purchase.
No. The styling service and your clothing purchases are separate. We'll work with your shopping budget, and you choose how much to spend on clothes.
Please tell me what doesn't feel right, whether it's the fit, colour, fabric or overall look. Your feedback helps me understand your preferences and look for alternatives. I'll do my best to find options you like, but I can't guarantee that every suggestion will suit you. You never need to buy or keep something simply because I've recommended it.
I may ask for a full-length photograph before Personal Shopping if it would help me prepare. It isn't needed for every booking, and I'll explain when it would be useful.
Photographs during the session are only taken with your agreement. If you'd prefer not to be photographed, just let me know.
Yes, although coming without children, if possible, usually gives you more time to focus on trying clothes and considering your options. Let me know beforehand if your child will be joining us.
For a Wardrobe Edit at home, children being there is fine. I just need you to be available to answer questions and make decisions about your clothes as we go.
You don't need a scheduled shopping appointment. Once you have completed the form and I have the details I need, I research pieces online and prepare your outfit recommendations. If you have a deadline, please let me know before we go ahead.
Yes. You're welcome to contact me if you have questions about the advice or recommendations you've received. I'll do my best to help.
Please get in touch as soon as you can so we can discuss the options. You can find the cancellation and rescheduling conditions in my Terms & Conditions.
Whether you have a particular service in mind or would like help choosing, send me a message and tell me a little about what you're looking for.
